The Folly of Faith

By faith, I mean the acceptance of things for which no rational evidence exists. Through the ages, faith deters people from developing their full potential, provides a crutch for people to explain and excuse their inadequacies, and, most harmfully, allows persons who have figured out how creatures of faith can be manipulated to enslave them.

Obama’s election was a clear example of putting faith over reason. If facts were faced, even liberals who were of his general political persuasion would be forced to admit that he was in no way qualified for the position as president and commander-in-chief. The dismal failure of his presidency on almost every front is clear evidence that reality rules eventually.

Faith in Obama was fueled by the romantic notion that it would be cool to have the U.S. have its first non-pink president. I shared the worthiness of this happening and hoped that despite all the rational evidence to the contrary, Obama could somehow pull it off. So much for hope.

Soon the U.S. will be faced with another intriguing possibility—having its first female president. It is a progression devoutly to be wished. And it would be wrong for anyone to oppose the proposition on the ground that exotic presidential choices have proven to be mistakes based on the Obama debacle.

Unfortunately, on the Democrat side, the female possibilities are even worse than Obama. Hardly a day goes by that Hillary Clinton doesn’t deepen the conclusion that she is an unscrupulous political pragmatist with precious few accomplishments to her credit.

The possible candidacy of Elizabeth (Minnie HAHA) Warren is even more dismal. I’d rather have Bernie Sanders to beat. At least he has the honesty to admit that he’s an avowed collectivist, a/k/a Socialist.

On the other hand, the Republicans have in their impressive roster of presidential candidates a woman who has actually accomplished something in the real world. I would hope and expect that she will be judged rationally and without respect to her gender, which should be neither advantage nor disability.
